The July/September Bookclub was held on September 17th at 1:00pm at Sharon Henderson’s in Shepherdstown. It was hosted by Sharon & Edna because we did a combined Bookclub. Our menu was ham, scalloped potatoes and a charcuterie board. Sharon baked an apple cake and several other members brought delicious desserts. We never lack for dessert!! Our entire Bookclub minus Grace was there. We missed you Grace!! The first book discussed was “The Home for War Orphans”. Everyone seemed to enjoy it with several people mentioning that it was part of a three book series that they had read. The setting was in France during World War 11 and how the orphans survived with some of them even joining the underground to fight the Nazi’s. The September book was “West with Giraffes”. We all really enjoyed this book too. It was amazing to think that it was based on a true event. It really happened that two giraffes were shipped into NY and then driven across Country to San Diego Zoo in California.
Our next Bookclub meeting is 1:00pm on October 15th at Carol’s where we will discuss “Theo of Golden”. Look forward to seeing everyone again.
