“Gone Before Goodbye”

My turn to host our club meeting this month, again another lousy August weather day to take a float in the pool. I served a Cobb Salad and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
I chose this medical thriller for our summer read. Widow Maggie McCabe a brilliant but disgraced surgeon accepts a mysterious offer to perform a secret surgery (because she was broke) and this turns into a global conspiracy. The novel is Witherspoon’s fiction debut and draws on her personal back ground as her parents served in the military in medical roles. It taps into real world rise of global billionaire class and corresponding growth of concierge medical care. The general consensus of our group, liked it. Sorry no picture and Pat & Grace could not make it.
